David Just, Executive Director

 

As Executive Director of the Senior Resource Council in Colorado Springs, David Just brings 30 years of expertise in human services and the nonprofit arena. His past work experience includes being the CEO of the American Red Cross Pikes Peak Chapter, the executive director for the national Wilderness Medical Society, and the American Lung Association of South Florida. David currently serves as the AARP Colorado Volunteer State President dedicated to addressing the needs and interests of retirees and those nearing retirement, and is a volunteer consultant for the Front Range Executive Corp which assists nonprofit organizations in achieving their missions.

David has both an undergraduate and graduate degree from the University of Illinois, and served as an assistant professor at Southern Illinois University. He enjoys all activities the Colorado outdoors has to offer including mountaineering where he is highlighted in a recently written book titled “Halfway to Heaven.” David met Cynthia, his wife of 39 years, in the Grand Canyon while working for the National Park Service.

David and Cynthia have two grown children, both with teaching experience in Asia and the Middle East.

David is excited to promote a vision for the rapidly increasing population of seniors in the Colorado Springs area. His primary interests are emphasizing health and wellness, the socioeconomic transitions encountered, human growth and development, and empowering those who wish to share their life experiences and remain active and contributing members in the community.
